Yes, it could get worse.
The laboratory failures in California wasn't an isolated incident. The Theranos laboratory in Arizona also suffered many of the same deficiencies before it was closed. https://www.wsj.com/articles/report-cites-deficiencies-at-theranos-lab-1486604062 (subscription required.
