I want to thank the AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) and CRB (College of Reproductive Biology) and Dr. Carli Chapman in particular for the honor of attending and addressing the AAB 60th anniversary educational conference / CRB 20th Symposium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
IVF and other assisted reproductive technologies are highly complex endeavors that require the utmost skill. But performing quality control on many of these processes has proven difficult. For instance, even with mouse embryos, it's difficult to have a "control" in the fertilization process that behaves exactly as a human embryo.
We hope that together we can tackle these challenges and find practical solutions. There may not be a need for "Westgard Rules" in every ART process step, but there may possibly be an immediate role for applying the Sigma-metric approach to benchmark quality.
Again, special thanks to Dr. Carli Chapman, who worked very hard to make this event happen.
